Photography notes

Photography notes

· Photoshop and image manipulation cannot make a bad photo good. Use this as an enhancement.
·
The rule of thirds is based on the fact that the human eye is naturally drawn to a point about 2/3 up a page.
·
Photo will be more pleasing to the eye if the main subject is located around one of the intersection points, rather then the centre.

Middle shots can make front cover awkward to work with.
·
Breaking the rules of 3rds, you can but needs to have reason and you need to be able to understand it.

· Can crop and reframe images so they fit within the rules.
·
The lines of the photo are very important, the people, landscape, different shapes.

· Eyes normally look across lines.

· Lines create points of interest and depth.

· Can add dynamics to the photo.

· Most prominent person in the shot is seen to be the lead

· Change the angle of the photograph, change in light, shade or pattern of it.

· Focal points- what is the main point of the image you want the audience to see first.
